Two Houses and as Dinosaur

Location: Athens, Greece
Under Construction 2023

Located in the rapidly growing suburb of Gerakas, this architectural project embodies the essence of contemporary urban living. The design of these two residencies, one of which is completed with an attic, encapsulates the evolving nature of the area. As the Attiki Odos and metro have become integral parts of Gerakas' infrastructure, the neighborhood continues to flourish, preserving its urban charm.

One of the striking features of this building is its environmentally conscious approach to energy utilization. The roof of the structure boasts a state-of-the-art photovoltaic installation, harnessing the power of the sun to generate electricity and reduce the building's carbon footprint. This sustainable energy source not only supports the household's power needs but also contributes to the local grid.

The architectural layout of the building takes full advantage of its ideal orientation for natural light. With the long side of the 'Γ' shape facing east to west, each room is designed to receive an abundance of natural sunlight, minimizing the need for artificial lighting during the day. The large windows and thoughtful placement of rooms ensure that residents can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors while remaining energy-efficient. Additionally, the building features 10 cm of top-tier insulation, promoting an optimal indoor climate. This insulation not only helps maintain a comfortable interior temperature year-round but also reduces energy consumption for heating and cooling.
